News to CNN, Speaker Johnson is Right

CNN Unearths Audio of New House Speaker Calling Humans ‘Inherently Evil’ and Abortion a ‘Holocaust’

In keeping with the purpose of this blog, commenting on current events through a Christian worldview, let’s discuss the most recent attack on Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). This post is in response to the article on CNN, Nov 21st, 2023, 9:14 pm; let’s take it a point at a time.

1. He is quoted in a critical tone for saying, that human beings are “inherently evil” as if that were a new concept, never heard of before. The Bible says it is true; in its unrefined and innate form, the inner core of humanity is corrupt and repugnant, Jeremiah calls it: "deceitful above all things".
The heart is deceitful above all things,
    and desperately sick;
    who can understand it?
“I the LORD search the heart
    and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.” (Jeremiah 17:9-10).
Here we see the glaring difference between Christianity and humanism. When you think of the atrocities committed in war, crime on our streets, and the shoplifting in California when the force of law is withdrawn for thefts under $950.00, you see the human heart expressing itself without restraint.

If you need further evidence, just remember the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Just view the video link below, which was taken at the time. Noting explains the looting as does a corrupt human heart. Law enforcement refused to enforce the law, and with no restraint, the people ran wild.

In the CNN article, Johnson is quoted from a previous radio program,

JOHNSON: One of the primary purposes of the law in civil government is to restrain evil… We must collectively acknowledge that man is inherently evil and needs to be restrained. That’s– see, that’s the problem with the radical left. They don’t acknowledge a God.”

Romans 13:1-3 "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and God has instituted those that exist. Therefore, whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,”

This scripture indicates that God instituted the concept of government and as long as it is moral (not like Germany in WWII, etc.), Christians need to respect it.
The Radical Left is atheist - to them God is irrelevant. That is a re-phrasing of his comment. When people either do not know or respect the teaching of God, all hell can break loose because of an unrestrained evil heart. The purpose of the law is to restrain the evil intent of the heart.

2. Secondly, he is criticized for “referring to abortion as 'an American holocaust.'” Again, this accurately portrays the reality from a Christian Worldview. According to the National Right to Life Education Foundation, since 1973, 63,459,781 abortions have occurred.

If life begins at conception, a typical position for conservative Christians, then the conclusion of an American holocaust is legitimate. To disagree is to reveal your bias as a humanist and intolerance of any other view. The right to life was a widely held view in the early culture of our country, and laws were in place to prevent abortions in keeping with that view. The problem reflected in this article is that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has not capitulated to the right-to-kill infants in the womb mob.

3. In conclusion, Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) words are totally consistent with fundamental Christian doctrine—Biblical doctrine. The article's author on CNN, Erin Burnett, must have thought she had a scoop on the Speaker that would undoubtedly upset his approval rating and ability to get his job done. Instead, she reveals her own bias and that of CNN which is totally unchristian.

This is the basic divide in our culture, believers in God vs those who deny the existence of God. The values and deeply held beliefs on each side are irreconcilable.

"When God Dies, people run wild, chaos, and crime thrive, and democracy goes awry." Quote from When God Dies, Kenneth Westbook, author of this blog. Your comments are welcome.
